The line-up for Iceland’s Secret Solstice festival has been revealed today, with the presence of Rita Ora and Pussy Riot promising to make the 2019 event one to remember.

Since 2011, Rita Ora’s career has exploded, with her singles and albums hitting number one across the charts; her talent in the music industry earned her seats at the judging tables of X-Factor and The Voice UK. Besides her vocal skills, she has branched into the worlds of acting and fashion, performing in the Fifty Shades trilogy and hosting the 23rd cycle of America’s Next Top Model.

Pussy Riot, meanwhile, are as famous for their political activism as they are their punk-rock beats, with their random, unauthorised protest concerts and the imprisonment of several members for their opposition to the Russian Government. The feminist collective will no doubt inspire festival-goers to celebrate their freedoms as much as they’ll inspire them to get on their feet and dance.

Previous years have boasted similarly acclaimed headliners, such as Bonnie Tyler, the Foo Fighters, Radiohead and Wu-Tang Clan.

Other performers announced to be joining the 2019 lineup today include Martin Garrix, Morcheeba and Boy Pablo, so fans can expect the festival beneath the midnight sun to be as eclectic, diverse and exciting as ever. Of course, more bands and musicians, both local and
international, will be announced as the date approaches.

Secret Solstice, alongside Airwaves and Sónar, has put Iceland on the map in terms of the worldwide festival scene. Between the 21st and 23rd of June, the city of Reykjavík will be packed with thousands of people eager for great beats, fantastic company and some show-stopping performances.

With these headliners, it seems that 2019 may be the best year yet; make sure, therefore, to get your tickets before they run out.
