Iceland Airwaves is over but many of the artists who played the famous festival have dropped new records following their Airwaves appearances.
Post-punk band Kælan Mikla have released their new album ‘Nótt eftir Nótt’ and so did another female trio, the hip-hop artists CYBER with their 7-track record, Bizness.
To bring you all of the new sounds from Iceland, here at Guide to Iceland Now, we have scanned Spotify to find the freshest Icelandic music to invade your headphones and kick off your weekend.
The first song on the playlist is the much anticipated new release from well-loved reggae band AmabAdamA; their first new song since their smash hit, Hermenn. National treasure and legend Bubbi Morthens also feature on there, as well as smooth groovers Moses Hightower with a catchy and compelling new song.
If you saw bagdad brothers, DJ Flugvél og geimskip or Teitur Magnússon at Airwaves and want to hear more, you can look forward to their melodies taking you through to Monday.
The hip-hop scene is getting bigger in Iceland, and so many of the new releases belong to this genre. There should be warning that many of the tracks are explicit, although mostly in Icelandic.
There are some well-known Icelandic hip-hop artists featured such as Herra Hnetusmjör, Elli Grill as well as the prolific and wildly popular Emmsjé Gauti.
