What is it?

A modest Danish-style bar, stocked with Nordic beer, pub quizzes, and beer pong.

Why go?

A favourite among the city locals, this welcoming establishment offers live music from 10PM every night, sports an eclectic range of drinks (including the much-beloved Danish white beer) and a spacious front patio.

The bar’s interior is airy, decorated with traditional Danish decor, embellished with Danish flags in homage to the Nordic country. Because of its location on a lane off Laugavegur, it’s all too easy to miss this establishment amid the flurry of souvenir shops, restaurants, and cafés. Even so, alluring live music stretching out into the street attracts its fair share of patrons.

Den Danske Kro (The Danish Inn) has a two-for-one Happy Hour from 4PM to 7PM, when it suddenly becomes noticeably more crowded.

Apart from that, Den Danske Kro routinely shows live football games, among other sports, and the dart board is a particularly popular spot in the evening. With a strangely homely ambience created by candle-lit tables, dark wood, and tasteful music, Den Danske Kro has managed to capture the spirit of Danish hygge.

During Christmas, Den Danske Kro stocks the festive Danish Nørrebro Julebryg, and it regularly offers Danish schnapps, Gammel Dansk (if you haven’t tried it, you really should), and Danish open-faced sandwiches to go with them.
